Ms. Trudy Burnham - Director of Bands
Ms. Trudy Burnham is the Band Director at Greenfield High School, where she had been proudly co-leading the Hustlin’ Hawks Band since 2022. The 2025-2026 school year marks her first year as the Director of Bands at Greenfield. A Wisconsin native and alumna of Germantown High School, Ms. Burnham’s passion for music and education has shaped her life and career. She earned her degree from Southeast Missouri State University, where she developed a strong foundation in music education.
Ms. Burnham made history as the first-ever female tuba player in the prestigious Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, one of the most storied and respected ensembles in the world of Drum Corps. Founded in 1938 and based in Madison, Wisconsin, the Madison Scouts are known for their bold, crowd-pleasing performances and have been a fixture in Drum Corps International (DCI) since its inception. Ms. Burnham’s groundbreaking role in the Corps reflects both her trailblazing spirit and dedication to excellence in the Performing Arts.
At Greenfield, she brings that same drive, leadership, and enthusiasm to her work with students. Under her direction, the band program continues to grow as a space where young musicians develop their skills, confidence, and love for music. Ms. Burnham is proud to inspire the next generation, championing inclusion, creativity, and high standards both on and off the podium.

Mrs. Valeri Fremder - Assistant Marching Band Director
This is Valeri's fourth year with the Hustlin' Hawks Marching Band. She is the Band Director at Greenfield Middle School and helps prepare our incoming students for the high school program, building their musical skills and confidence so they can thrive in the Marching Band. Once the students reach the High School level, she continues to make an impact as the Assistant Marching Band Director.
This is Valeri's fourth year with the Hustlin' Hawks Marching Band. She is the Band Director at Greenfield Middle School and helps prepare our incoming students for the high school program, building their musical skills and confidence so they can thrive in the Marching Band. Once the students reach the High School level, she continues to make an impact as the Assistant Marching Band Director.
Caption Heads
Jessica Barrett - Percussion Caption Head
Jessica is a percussion educator and proud alumna of Greenfield High School. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. As the Drumline Technician and Percussion Caption Head for the Hustlin’ Hawks Marching Band, Jessica combines her passion for teaching with her performance background to help guide and inspire the next generation of Greenfield percussionists.
Jessica is a percussion educator and proud alumna of Greenfield High School. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. Anna Dohrmann - Color Guard Caption Head
Anna is excited to return to the Hustlin’ Hawks Marching Band for her tenth season. She leads our outstanding Color Guard section by creating choreography, selecting equipment, and choosing the perfect uniforms to bring each show to life. Anna’s creativity, leadership, and positive spirit make her an essential part of our Marching Band staff, and we’re thrilled to have her on the team.

Alec Thompson - Visual Caption Head
Alec is a brass musician in the Southeastern Wisconsin area who marched professionally with the Colt Cadets in 2020 and 2021. He now shares his experience with the Hustlin’ Hawks Marching Band, teaching members the skills he developed during his time with the Colts.

Micah Durham - Brass & Visual Tech
Micah is an alumnus of Greenfield High School and is returning for his fifth year with the Hustlin’ Hawks Band. He attends UW–Stevens Point and is currently student teaching at Greenfield Middle School. Micah is eager to help grow the program by sharing the knowledge and skills he has gained through his college experience. His passion for music education and dedication to student success make him a valued part of the staff, and he takes pride in giving back to the program that shaped his own musical journey.

Bradley holds both a BFA in Percussion Performance from UW–Milwaukee and an MM from UW–Madison, where he also served as Percussion Assistant. He is an endorsed artist with Artifact Percussion and works in sales support at Hal Leonard. Bradley previously taught with the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra. He now brings his performance-driven teaching and professional experience to the Hustlin’ Hawks Marching Band as our percussion instructor.

Ramiro Sanchez - Brass & Visual Tech
Ramiro is an alumnus of Greenfield High School and is excited to begin his first year as a staff member with the Hustlin' Hawks Marching Band. He is currently pursuing a BFA in Music Education with hopes of one day becoming a Band Director.
Ramiro also runs the Bands social media pages and website, in addition to being the in-house photographer for the band.

Design Staff
Steve Tonar - Sound & Prop Design
Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts and Design with an emphasis on Lighting Design from the University of Minnesota, and now helps inspire and instruct at Greenfield High School as the Technical Director of the GPAC. He is a Milwaukee-based sound, lighting, and scenic designer and brings a theatrical sensibility and a deep understanding of live performance to the marching arts. Recently his designs have been seen and heard in Waitress, Spring Awakening, and Juliet & Romeo (Skylight Music Theatre), as well as at GHS for Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella and Puffs last season.

J.R. has decades of experience writing music and drill for top high school and college bands, including the Spartan Marching Band and the Marching Illini. A member of ASCAP and the National Band Association, he also judges nationally with Bands of America and USBands. He now designs custom shows for the Hustlin’ Hawks Marching Band along with his many other bands at all levels, blending creativity and expertise to elevate every performance.
