Concert Ensembles
The Greenfield High School Band program consists of three concert ensembles. The premier band being the Wind Ensemble followed by Symphonic Band then Concert Band. These ensembles perform at various levels but all focus on technical skill, musical expression, and ensemble collaboration.
As part of the course, members have the unique opportunity to work with leading band clinicians, further enriching their musical experience. Each spring, students are encouraged to showcase their individual talents by participating in the WSMA Solo and Ensemble Festival.
All ensembles present a Winter and a Spring concert focused on advanced repertoire. These ensembles also perform during our District wide Pops Concert showcasing both the Middle and High School ensembles.

Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Ensemble at Greenfield High School consists of traditional jazz instruments and performs a wide variety of literature ranging from swing and ballads to funk and Latin music. This ensemble performs in the WSMA Solo & Ensemble festival, the Spring Jazz Concert in April, and any other performances that may arise throughout the school year and summer. Students will study both traditional and contemporary jazz styles in addition to the beginning techniques of jazz improvisation.
Pit Orchestra
The Greenfield High School Pit Orchestra offers a one of a kind experience for our student musicians. Performing alongside actors on stage and professional local musicians, our students work with the same pit books used by professionals on Broadway. This ensemble challenges and develops our musicians, providing them with a taste of what life is like on Broadway.
Our pit orchestra continues to impress with its professionalism and musicality, tackling demanding repertoire with dedication and skill. We are proud to have been nominated by the Jerry Awards for Outstanding Orchestra two years in a row a testament to the hard work and talent of our student musicians.
Recent productions include Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella (2025), The Drowsy Chaperone (2024), and Legally Blonde (2023).

A fan favorite, the Greenfield High School Pep Band brings energy and excitement to GHS home basketball games, football games, and other school events. Their performances create a lively, spirited atmosphere that showcases school pride.
Participation in the Pep Band gives students a fun, low-pressure opportunity to perform in a high-energy setting while supporting their school. No audition is required for current band students, and all are encouraged to join!
Beyond the school walls, the Pep Band proudly represents Greenfield High in the community. The group has performed at Milwaukee Bucks, Brewers, and Admirals games, as well as a variety of local events including Greenfield Police Department's National Night Out each year.

Marching Band
The Hustlin’ Hawk Marching Band is a competitive ensemble performing in WSMA’s Class AAA division. Membership is required for all students enrolled in Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. The marching band provides students with the opportunity to perform in a collaborative, high-energy, and competitive environment that builds musicianship, leadership, and character beyond the classroom.
Rehearsals begin in July and are followed by a two-week band camp in August. The season runs through mid-October and includes local parades, football game performances, and competitions across the state. Each year, the Hustlin’ Hawks travel to approximately five competitive shows, ending with the WSMA State Marching Band Championships at UW–Whitewater’s Perkins Stadium.
Each season, the Hustlin’ Hawks perform an original show featuring a unique theme, captivating music, and theatrical design elements that push the limits of performance. Through this creative process, our students strive to become the best performers they can be.
